Our Week in Review!

Update:  We have a winner!  Layla is the one who allowed herself to be "caught" in the roll cage this morning, and she is now ready to go to the vet for her big day!  We'll keep everyone posted on how the surgery goes.

This has been a bitter-sweet week as workers and volunteers at In-Sync Exotics continue to mourn the loss of Howard.  This cougar made a huge impact on all who knew him and we miss him terribly.

Earlier this week we received the Donor Bridge report and learned that for every dollar donated, we received a matching donation of $.97!  Donor Bridge plans on sending out In-Sync Exotics’ donation check by the end of next month.  Again, our heart-felt gratitude for your generosity and support of our animals!

Today is the last day to feed a hungry wild one via our Feed a Hungry Carnivore Campaign!  While we came in a bit short of our expectations, we are hopeful that we will make it to the ½ way point with only $130 more dollars to meet this goal!  A donation of just $10 will go a long way in feeding a wild one, so if you can, please donate today!  Thank you!

Yesterday, our President and CEO announced In-Sync Exotics is going green!  We want to be great stewards of your contributions, so we are implementing a new water management system.  But like any new program, we require assistance in getting this program off the ground.  This new water waste management system will not only ensure we are in compliance with environmental regulations, but help us conserve our valuable water resource and reduce our water bills by $500-$600 per month!

Next week, In-Sync Cat Tales will give our readers an update on the Leona 6 tigers that called In-Sync Exotics home just one year ago!  You don’t want to miss this update, so check back with us next week for this wonderful story!

Will Eve be the first lioness to be
spayed?  Find out next week!
Plus, next week one of our former Poetry lionesses will be spayed!  We are not sure which one will go to the veterinarian until Tuesday morning.  Our lioness “24-hour sitters” are ready to keep an eye on the returning cat to ensure she does not pull out her surgical stitches.   We will keep you updated on her progress!  If you want to contribute towards the last two lionesses’ spays, please visit our donation site!  Thank you so much!

All of us at In-Sync Exotics wish you a roaring great weekend!  We hope to see you soon!

In-Sync Exotics Goes Green!

At In-Sync Exotics, we never know what new challenges lies ahead of us. For the most part, we spend the majority of our efforts on animal-related issues, so it came as a surprise to us when we recently learned from a city inspector that it was time to change our water waste management procedures.

Since we want to comply with all environmental regulations and find ways to reduce In-Sync Exotics’ operational expenses, we came up with a plan that will help us clean and reuse our waste water.  This plan, once implemented, will help In-Sync Exotics conserve water and reduce our water bills by $500-$600 per month!

Here’s how the plan works:

Water waste from the animal enclosures will be captured into a large tank.  The water will then travel through three large filter tanks before emptying into a clean water tank.  This water can then be used again to clean out the animals’ enclosures and water our landscaping!

Even our commissary water waste system will be upgraded.  We plan to install a Big Dipper that will automatically remove 99.6% fats, oils, and grease from the water before it enters the drainage system, depositing the waste into safe containers for simple rendering and removal away from the premise.  This procedure will extend the life of our septic tank system.

Needless to say, the price tag for our latest challenge will cost In-Sync Exotics approximately $16-18k.  To make these environmental friendly changes, we will need to purchase several pumps, numerous tanks (at $1000 per tank), Dipper ($3k), gravel, piping, and pay for equipment rental plus labor costs.  If anyone has any information regarding environmental/conservation grant awards to help us off-set the cost of this new program, please contact Lynn Travis or myself!

I know in the last few months we have been asking for donations pertaining to variety of special projects, in the hopes that one particular project speaks to the hearts and minds of our donors—I hope this particular challenge speaks to you today. For you see, without proper water management, we will not be able to comply with the environmental regulation changes.  If you can make a contribution, no matter how large or small, to our latest water challenge, then please visit our donation web page.  I cannot thank you enough for supporting our mission to care for our precious exotic wild cats (and Nugget, of course)!

Warm Regards,

Just Three Days Left...

Won't you please consider making a generous gift today; helping us feed the In-Sync Exotics cats for as many days as you feel financially comfortable? No donation is too small; even one day covered helps us feed a precious animal.

We humbly thank you in advance for helping us put food in our cats’ dinner bowls tonight!

Donor Bridge Report Is In!

Well folks, we finally received the donation report from Donor Bridge and we have very good news report!  Sixty donors were able to contribute $25 or more, despite the very busy Internet and phone lines, donating a total of $3,308 to In-Sync Exotics!  Thank you contributors for your tenacity and desire to see your contribution grow during this dollar matching event!

Now we are waiting to see if our contributors' donations will be matched, dollar-for-dollar by Donor Bridge, bringing our total donations to $6,616!  Stayed tuned for the final update on this event!

Again, we at In-Sync Exotics (animals, volunteers, and staff alike) thank you very much for your gifts as it helps us pay for food, medical care, and enrichment items for our animals!
