Our Week in Review!

Alas, another great week at In-Sync Exotics comes to a close!  If you missed any of the blog postings for this week, fear not, as we provided you a brief synopsis and appropriate web links to each day listed below!

On Monday we started of the week with a great story on how we draw blood from our exotic big cats.  Sabu was most kind helping us demonstrate this procedures!  Click HERE to watch Vicky, Mak, and Sabu in action!

Tuesday marked a significant day as we went to the polls to vote for our elected official of choice.  It was also significant as we held our own special election for the position of Exotic Animal Representative for In-Sync Exotics.  Lots of people voted!  There was one clear winner...click HERE for the rest of this funny story!

Our mid-week story focused on the plight of our little bobcat Gideon.  Our precious boy is facing some serious medical challenges.  To learn more about our special boy and how you can help him, please click HERE.
Do you believe in lion love at first sight?  Have you ever wondered what really attracts a lioness to her mate?  While lion mane length is important, there is something else that catches the eye of the lady lions!  What could that be?  To learn the answer to this pondering question, you'll have to check out yesterday's blog posting by clicking HERE.

Turkey Toss!

The much anticipated Turkey Toss will be held on November 24th at In-Sync Exotics! More details about his great event will be shared with you next week.  In the meantime, please put this date on your calendar as you do not want to miss the cats receiving their Thanksgiving Turkeys!

Now that the weather is cooler, our cats are more frisky! If you haven't had a chance to meet our exotic cats, Nugget and Twiggy, then now would be a great time!  For tour information, please click HERE! We have some great fall and winter activities coming up (like the Turkey Toss!!)  that you don't want to miss, so stay tuned for more details!

In the meantime, have a safe and wonderful weekend and we hope to see you soon--especially since the weather is much cooler and the cats are active!

Our Week in Review!

As another week comes to a close, we are reminded at just how blessed we are to have wonderful fans and donors who support our beautiful animals!  As usual, it's time to re-cap the weekly news events and add a little something extra for our fans to enjoy!

On Monday, we posted a special Who Am I teaser picture, testing our fans and volunteers knowledge of our special featured cougar.  The first person who correctly identified of our cougar plus answered the two fill in the blank questions was Colleen Butler!

"My name is Spike. I used to live in Poetry TX in a barn.
As far as we know he had never been outside that barn and was easily spooked once he was."

Colleen Butler is one of our board directors who really knows her cougars! Congratulations, Colleen!  Your small prize is "in the mail!" [wink wink]  Click HERE to read Monday's blog posting!

Are you a cougar person?  If you are, then you're going to love Tuesday's blog posting!  Janis Danner wrote her second installment of Cat-o-tonic History Lessons on cougars and their myth roles in history!  It's a great posting with an opportunity to request Cerella's ringtone!  To read Tuesday's blog posting, please click HERE!

Last Sunday we held our 1st Annual Fall Festival and Pumpkin Bash for the Cats!  Thanks to our event's photographer, Kelli, Malone, we have some great pictures to show you of the cats receiving their pumpkins!  To read Wednesday's posting and watch the special event's slideshow, click HERE!

As a bonus, here is a short video of Chloe playing with her pumpkin!

Yesterday, we introduced a humongous red barrel to our tigers!  We have a few videos of their reactions to their new toys that were placed in their playgrounds--a must watch!  Plus we provided an update on Sox's medical condition!  Click HERE for the videos and the important update!

Our fans have spoken!  We are a Top-Rated Nonprofit for 2012!  We'd like to thank everyone who wrote wonderful reviews about our mission, sanctuary, and animals on our GreatNonProfits' web page (click HERE to read our reviews)!  Once the Awards officially close on November 15, our new badge will appear on our Great Nonprofits profile and we'll be highlighted in the Great Nonprofits 2012 Top-Rated PageThe Huffington PostTakePart and Parade Magazine will be referring their readers to check out Top-Rated Nonprofits in November!  Again, thank you so much for helping us reach more people who may want to help support our mission in the future. We are truly humbled and honored by your support!

Now that the weather is cooler, our cats are more frisky! If you haven't had a chance to meet our exotic cats, Nugget and Twiggy, then now would be a great time!  For tour information, please click HERE! We have some great fall and winter activities coming up that you don't want to miss, so stay tuned for more details!

In the meantime, have a safe and wonderful weekend and we hope to see you soon--especially since the weather is much cooler and the cats are active!

Our Week in Review!

Happy Friday, everyone!  If you missed any of this week's postings, you can catch up by reading our weekly recap (below) plus some additional exciting information we think you'll enjoy.

Let's kick off the review with Monday's blog posting.  On Monday, we introduced you to Neffie's new friends named Mr. Kibo and Shira.  They traveled over 1,000 miles just so they could call In-Sync Exotics "home"!  To learn more about our new (brother-sister) servals, please click HERE!

On Tuesday, we provided news you can use this winter in helping out the feral and stray cats in your neighborhood.  Click HERE to learn how YOU can save the life of an outdoor kitty.

On Wednesday, we shook things up with a special "October Surprise!"  To see your cheetah habitat donations at work, click HERE to see our cheetahs in their new home!

Ah, what a dilemma--to wear a costume or go au natural?  This question was answered in yesterday's blog posting, so click HERE for our answer to this most unusual dilemma!

We are sad to report that our Fall Big Cat Photo Shoot was cancelled as we did not have enough participants.  We plan to reschedule this event in the Spring, so be sure to look for this very special event next year!

Now that the weather is beginning to change, leaves are falling off the trees, we must have... an exciting FALL FESTIVAL!

Our Fall Festival will be held on October 28th from 11:00am - 4:00pm at In-Sync Exotics. This is another  fabulous In-Sync Exotics special event as our cats just LOVE to play with their pumpkins; your kids (the human kind) will enjoy great games & prizes, get lost in a maze; have your face painted; bounce around in the bounce house; participate in our raffle; and much, much more!

This is one event you will want to bring your friends, family, and camera!  For more details or to print a copy of our flier, please click HERE!

We hope you enjoyed our blog postings for the week and will join us again next week for another possible "October Surprise--The Sequel!"  In the meantime, you are invited to come out, observe your donations at work by touring our facility (click HERE for tour information).

Please keep in mind, we are still fundraising for our big cats' dental work. If you can spare $10 or more towards this most worthy cause, we (and our cats) will be most grateful--thank you!  To make a donation towards our big cats' dental surgeries, please click HERE!

Have a tiger-ific weekend everyone!

Our Week in Review

This has been a very busy week at In-Sync Exotics!  Let's recap, shall we?

Monday's blog posting is a twist on the traditional Labor Day holiday posting.  We didn't want to forget to recognize the contributions of our hard working dogs and cats.  To read our tribute to our furry friends, click HERE!

Did you see the exciting new video called "Swimming with Tigers" that premiered on Tuesday?  This video broke all previous In-Sync Exotics' video records, no small part due to our loyal fans!  Thank you very much for sharing this video with your friends, family, and co-workers.  To see this amazing video again, click HERE.

As you know, we love featuring our animals in our daily postings, and this week was no exception!  On Wednesday, we posed the question "Have you Met [our beautiful girl] Jynxie Yet?"  Jynxie was born at a sanctuary in 1998 in Mississippi where.... (Click HERE to read the rest of her story)

Did you know that big cats can have "tummy problems" too?  When our cats have tummy problems, they have TUMMY PROBLEMS, and so it's our job to make sure we identify and treat their problems.  We are currently treating two big cats with stomach problems... (click HERE to read the rest of the story)

Cheetahs' "Fast Track Habitat" Update!

We are very excited with the delivery of the stone material we're using for the cheetahs' new house!  Thanks to our kind donors, the cheetahs will soon enjoy a new habitat.  We are getting that much closer toward our big grand opening of this new area.  As soon as we have an idea when we'll be nearing completion of this project, we will let everyone know!

RAZOO and Donor Bridge

Did you know that we need your help raising funds for five big cats requiring dental care?  (click HERE to see the RAZOO "Big Cats Need Dental Care Too")

As you can imagine, our over enthusiastic tigers and lions love to play a little rough. Sometimes, a little too rough, resulting in fractured canine teeth! Our big cats' teeth serve an important function in their lives and it is beneficial to surgically save them.

Unfortunately, the type of surgery our big cats require is rather expensive. We need your help!

We have four tigers and one lion, requiring root canal therapy and one tiger requiring root canal therapy and a tooth extraction. Our vet has examined all five big cats to ensure their broken canines did not pose an immediate health risk. Even still our vet recommends our big cats undergo root canal therapy as soon as possible in order to avoid possible future infections.

We would like to thank the 15 donors who contributed $960 towards our goal of $10,000.  We have a ways to go before we reach our $10k, but we are hopeful that we'll raise enough funds to take our cats to veterinarian who specializes in exotic cat dental care before Thanksgiving.  Won't you help our big cats receive the dental care they need?  A minimum donation of $10 will definitely help, so please consider making a kind donation today! Thank you!

This year, we plan to apply the matching funds from the Donor Bridge towards our cats' dental care.  To learn more about the Donor Bridge event, please click HERE

We hope you enjoyed this week's blog posting and will join us again next week for more informative, funny, and interesting blog postings of our wild ones! Remember, we are open for tours Thursday - Friday, so we look forward to your visit! Be safe and have a great weekend!

Our Week in Review!

It has been rather quiet at In-Sync Exotics this week, now that our first major fundraising event is over.  Already we are setting our sights on our next big event--our Birthday Bash!  Thankfully, the BB takes place in June, so we have some time to prepare for our big birthday party!

We are hoping to have another great turn out, like we did for the Easter Celebration, so we are reviewing what went great and what could stand some improvement.

A frequent comment we heard through out the event was that In-Sync Exotics is the best kept secret in Texas!  What??  We don't want to be a secret (would like to to be the best, however), so we asked for your help in Monday's blog posting, to spread the word about In-Sync Exotics via our blog (share & comment), Twitter (tweet), Facebook (share & comment), and YouTube (subscribe and comment).    We noticed we have several new Twitter, Facebook, and YouTube subscribers, however, our blog subscription number remained the same.   Thank you everyone who helped spread the word about In-Sync Exotics!

Odds are most people are coming to the blog from our other social media sources.  However, if you ever decide you want to receive your own blog posting sent directly to your email box, then please subscribe!  Also, you do not have to have a YouTube channel or post videos to YouTube in order to receive our latest video posting via email.  If you subscribe to our channel, you will automatically receive an email announcing we've posted a great new video to our channel!

Tuesday's blog updated our readers on Keenan and Okemo's health condition plus showed a bonus video of what we see and hear when we feed our cheetahs!  All four cats are adorable and doing well, despite their on-going health issues.

We noticed that our readers are a little shy, as no one gave a "shout out" as to whom was their favorite animal at In-Sync Exotics!  Please don't be shy--we'd love to hear from you!

Wednesday was all about the feral and stray cats that call our cities, suburbs, and farms home.  Can an adult feral be tamed?  Are feral kittens easy to handle?  Well, you'll just have to ready our blog posting to find out!

To our surprise, little Wobbles has a fan club!  We receive messages on our social media pages asking for more information/updates on little Wobbles!  The good news is, Wobbles has been seizure-free for several weeks now.  Bad news is, we may have created a Wobble Monster!  Don't believe this sweet little kitty can become an attack cat?  Well, you'll just have to see her for yourself...so visit Wednesday's blog posting today!

Working and volunteering at animal shelters can be one of the toughest jobs out there, especially when it comes to saying good-bye to animals that we have become attached to over the years.  Often it's the littlest things that remind us of how precious life is and the important of living, loving, and enjoying life to the fullest.  Thursday's posting was about one such tiny reminder as we look back at the 6-month passing of Raja.  Our beautiful tiger may not be with us physically, but he will always be with us in spirit--he will never be forgotten.

It's been awhile since we've provided a Nugget health update.  Our long-time readers may recall that Nugget went to the vet to be treated for a really bad rash.  The little dear was doing great for awhile, but the rash came right back--with a vengeance!  Why you ask?

Well, unfortunately Nugget refuses to take his medication, so we will have to administer expensive bi-weekly long-lasting antibiotic shots ($250 a piece) for about a month.  We are hoping this new treatment will nip this problem, once and for all!  If you would like to make a contribution towards Nugget's medication, please visit our donation page and in the comment box let us know the gift is for Nugget's care.  Thank you!

HUGE REMINDER!

Our Wild Cats are Ready for Their Close-up Shots... Are you Ready to Capture Their Gorgeous Images on Film?

In-Sync Exotics is excited to offer professional and amateur photographers the opportunity to photograph our exotics wild animals in a natural and semi-natural background. Capture those special moments as our wild ones splash in their pools, play with their toys on the playground, or just coming up to greet you, up close and personal!

We cater to small groups with only 15 reservations available for the spring, summer, and fall photo shoots; however, we must have at least 10 people scheduled in order for the private photography session to take place.

Our spring photo session is scheduled for April 29, 2012 from 7:30am – 12:00pm.

What to expect during your photography shoot

All participants will receive an orientation prior to breaking out into small groups with two volunteer animal caretakers per group. Our goal is to allow you to photograph our animals without the double barrier hindering your view. If you have professional photo equipment you can focus past single cage wire if the cat is far enough from the side of the enclosure. If you are using amateur photo equipment, you may have single cage wire in some of your photographs.

Our animals always come first—we do not force our animals to perform, but allow them to act naturally in their own environment. If one of our cats is not in the mood to be photographed (for instance hiding in her den), then the small group will have to move on to the next animal. Some of our smaller cats can be rather shy and elusive, so we cannot guarantee you will get a great shot of all our wild ones, but we will give it our best effort to quietly encourage our shy ones to come out and greet you!

This event is by appointment only. Please email Lynne for info on availability, waiting list, payment options and details about the shoot.
The cost for the private photo shoot tour is $100 per photographer. Prices and terms subject to change without notice.

You do not want to miss this opportunity to take some fabulous photos of our animals! With the weather a little cooler in the mornings, we feel confident that you will walk away with some of the most amazing pictures of our animals waking up and playing! So sign up today and we’ll see you on April 29, 2012!

Well, we hope you enjoyed this week's blog postings--stay tuned next week for some more great articles on our wild ones!  Until then, be safe, and have a wonderful weekend.  We hope to see you soon!

Our Week in Review!

Goodness, this week has just flown by!  Let’s recap the event of this week:

On Monday, we learned that cats are the undisputed sleep champions of the animal world!  Thanks to our viewing audience, we were able to put together a short video of domestic and wild cats sleeping styles.  Due to the large number of photos, we were unable to include the wonderful captions submitted with the photos—however, the photos truly speak for themselves! Whether it’s a cat finding comfort on a man’s shoulders, stealing our favorite blankets, curling up in our sinks when we need to get ready for work or taking over the doggies’s bed; cats have the unique way of taking over our lives—even when they are sleeping!

So click HERE to view the video and remember, even if your cat is sleeping, he's probably dreaming of you…

Tuesday was Valentine’s Day—a perfect day to celebrate Kenya’s life, the tiger who inspired the formation of In-Sync Exotics.  To read more about Vicky’s love for this amazing tiger that was once dubbed as an “ugly” cub by his former owner, click HERE.

Wednesday:  What happens when the sun sets, the bones are distributed to the cats, and all animals are fed every Sunday evening?   It’s “Bone Race” time!  Several years ago, we started a “bone race” where five tigers raced through an empty adjacent enclosure looking for one hidden bone.

Mohan, Saber, Lucca, Nadia, and Emma have gotten pretty good at finding the bone, no doubt because we have limited places where we can hide the tasty treat; it’s just a matter of time before one tiger finds the bone first!

Below is a bonus video of last week’s race, from a different prospective!

We also welcomed a new Intern to In-Sync Exotics!  So put your two paws together in welcoming Sascha Myrthue to Team In-Sync!

On Thursday we covered Nugget’s trip to the vet.  Why did he need so see his doc?  Well, a few weeks ago, we noticed that Nugget had what looked like a rash on his “hind quarters.”  Concerned that this might be a bacterial infection….(read more HERE)

Well, we hope you enjoyed this week's blog and will return next week for more fun, entertaining and informative updates on the animals of In-Sync Exotics! Have a fun and safe weekend -- and don't forget to visit the animals if you happen to be in vicinity of In-Sync Exotics!

All of us at In-Sync Exotics hope you have a roaring great weekend!

Our Week in Review!

Update:  We have a winner!  Layla is the one who allowed herself to be "caught" in the roll cage this morning, and she is now ready to go to the vet for her big day!  We'll keep everyone posted on how the surgery goes.
________________________________________________________________

This has been a bitter-sweet week as workers and volunteers at In-Sync Exotics continue to mourn the loss of Howard.  This cougar made a huge impact on all who knew him and we miss him terribly.

Earlier this week we received the Donor Bridge report and learned that for every dollar donated, we received a matching donation of $.97!  Donor Bridge plans on sending out In-Sync Exotics’ donation check by the end of next month.  Again, our heart-felt gratitude for your generosity and support of our animals!

Today is the last day to feed a hungry wild one via our Feed a Hungry Carnivore Campaign!  While we came in a bit short of our expectations, we are hopeful that we will make it to the ½ way point with only $130 more dollars to meet this goal!  A donation of just $10 will go a long way in feeding a wild one, so if you can, please donate today!  Thank you!

Yesterday, our President and CEO announced In-Sync Exotics is going green!  We want to be great stewards of your contributions, so we are implementing a new water management system.  But like any new program, we require assistance in getting this program off the ground.  This new water waste management system will not only ensure we are in compliance with environmental regulations, but help us conserve our valuable water resource and reduce our water bills by $500-$600 per month!

Next week, In-Sync Cat Tales will give our readers an update on the Leona 6 tigers that called In-Sync Exotics home just one year ago!  You don’t want to miss this update, so check back with us next week for this wonderful story!

Will Eve be the first lioness to be
spayed?  Find out next week!
Plus, next week one of our former Poetry lionesses will be spayed!  We are not sure which one will go to the veterinarian until Tuesday morning.  Our lioness “24-hour sitters” are ready to keep an eye on the returning cat to ensure she does not pull out her surgical stitches.   We will keep you updated on her progress!  If you want to contribute towards the last two lionesses’ spays, please visit our donation site!  Thank you so much!

All of us at In-Sync Exotics wish you a roaring great weekend!  We hope to see you soon!
