Happy Friday! It's our Weekly Roundup...

Whew!  We made it through another busy week at In-Sync Exotics!  Let's take a look at some of the fun we had this week:

On Monday, we presented "Tyjar's Play Cam," the third video is a series produced by Barry Stevenson.  If you've never been "hugged" by a tiger before (stuffed toy tigers don't count), Tyjar gives you a "visual" hug over the Internet!  He is absolutely adorable!

Tuesday's blog gave you "Tips on Motivating a Lion!"  Not an easy task when the lion requiring some motivation is Aurora!  We also announced that we are have a "Big Cat Photo Shoot" on March 18, 2012.  Space is limited, so contact Lynne today to secure your spot!  For details see our flier on Tuesday's blog page.

The Easter Bunny is Coming, the Easter Bunny is coming...to In-Sync Exotics!  We invite you and your entire family to attend our annual Easter celebration scheduled for April 7, 2012!  We are going to have an Egg Toss, a Bunny Hop, two Egg Hunts, a special Treat Tour, and much, much, more!!  A schedule of events will be published next week, so reserve this date on your calendar.  You do not want to miss out on all the fun...

Our wild ones have a very special request this year.  They would like Easter toys!  Can you help a wild one enjoy many days of fun and excitement with a new ball, egg toy, rawhide bone, fabulous scents (Amol just loves Obsession for Men [hint hint]), stall snack (for the horses), or a barrel?

To help the animals of In-Sync Exotics, the Easter Bunny made a small wish list of much needed Easter toys for our wild ones, domestic cats, and horses. Since these gifts would mean the world to them, the Easter Bunny placed his "wishes" on Amazon, so you can see what the animals would love to have this year.  You can either ship the gifts directly to In-Sync Exotics (if you live far away from us) or to your home (if you plan to attend our Easter celebration).

If you cannot attend our event, we can write your name on the gift, so you can see pictures of your gift(s) in play!

If you make your purchases from our Amazon wish list, we will receive a 4-7% referral fee! A win-win for the animals and In-Sync Exotics!
On Thursday, Sabu showed us just how much he loves his Saturday enrichment.  After watching this video, it's hard not to fall in love with our handsome maneless lion.  He is so adorable!

Update on March 9, 2012 at 8:40pm:  Sabu's test results came back today and we have excellent news!  His vitamin A level climbed to 166!  Way to go Sabu!

We hope you have a wonderful weekend and don't forget, we are open on Saturday and Sunday for tours and next week we are open for Spring Break

Here Comes Sabu!

Sabu, our oldest and most loveable lion, simply loves Saturdays!  For you see, on Saturday, he get's his very special enrichment item.  You'll  never guess what Sabu looks forward to each week...it's not his ball or meat bones... it is...

Needless to say, you won't find Sabu's favorite enrichment item on our Easter Wish list, but you will find other items that he likes almost as much (balls and large rawhide bones)!

As I mentioned above, Sabu is our geriatric lion who came to us from the now closed Wild Animal Orphanage (San Antonio, Texas).  Since his arrival last May, Sabu has made great strides in improving his physical condition.  He has captured our hearts as we watch him joyful playing with his  toes  and romp on the playground.  This loveable guy has quite a fan base following him and we will continue to provide you updates on his health.

When Sabu first arrived, his vitamin A level was 16.  Two months ago, his level was at 144.  While he is not quite at a normal level of 200-500, he is making great strides due to the vitamin A pills he receives, excellent diet, and of course, lots of playtime with his favorite enrichment items!  We are expecting his latest test results sometime this week; hopefully his level will continue to climb.

Update on March 9, 2012:  Sabu's test results came back today and we have excellent news!  His vitamin A level climbed to 166!  Way to go Sabu!

Huge thanks to Robert and Karin Saucedo for putting together this great video of Sabu!

The Easter Bunny is Coming to In-Sync Exotics!

The Easter Bunny is eagerly preparing for his visit to In-Sync Exotics this year, coloring lots of eggs for our wild ones and visiting guests.  The Easter celebration event is one of our favorites as we celebrate Easter with our cats and friends! Here are the details:

Date:  April 7, 2012
Time:  10:30 AM

We have a lot of exciting events for the young and the young at heart to enjoy!

So come out and watch your children race around our grounds looking for Easter Eggs...

Or how about tossing Easter eggs with your kids!

Create wonderful family memories by participating in these and other fun events scheduled this year!

Of course, our Easter Celebration would not be complete without the Easter Bunny distributing his gifts for our wild ones!

But in order to make this years' celebration for our wild ones extra special we will need your help!  The Easter Bunny made a small wish list of much needed Easter toys for our wild ones and domestic cats.  Since these gifts would mean the world to them, the Easter Bunny placed his list on Amazon, so you can see what the animals would love to have this year.  Can you help out the Easter Bunny this year by gifting special toys for our animals?

Gifts like...

Great for tigers!

Great for the smaller cats!

Great for cougars!

....and so much more will make our animals very, very happy!  You can either have the gifts shipped directly to us or you can have them shipped to your own home.  Either way, we will put out all the toys received during the Easter Celebration so you can see your gifts in play!

If you cannot attend our event, we can write your name on the gift, so you can see pictures of your gift in play too!

If you make your purchases from our Amazon wish lists, we will receive a 4-7% referral fee!  A win-win for the animals and In-Sync Exotics!

A schedule of events' starting times will be published very soon, so reserve this date on your calendar to spend quality time with your family...with our family at In-Sync Exotics!

Update!!

Thanks to concerned supporters, we learned folks were experiencing a technical glitch when making gift purchases.  We have corrected the error and you can now shop without any further complications (tiger toes crossed)!  While fixing the glitch, we noticed several gift items just went on sale! We hope you will consider purchasing gifts for our wonderful wild and domestic ones at Amazon Easter Wishes site.  Shipping economy takes about 6-9 days, so don't delay!  Thank you!

Tips on Motivating a Lion

As you may already know, several of our large wild cats share large playgrounds (six in all) scattered throughout the In-Sync Exotic grounds, allowing our cats to enjoy about five hours per day on soft grass and cool pool waters. As we rotate the cats on and off the playground, we thoroughly examine the playground for hidden dangers and of course, scoop the poop.

Generally, we don’t have a problem getting the wild cats to leave their quarters so they can spend some quality time in the sun.  We do have problems getting some of the cats off the playground so other cats may enjoy the same opportunity of fun, water, and sun.

Aurora, one of the Poetry lionesses, is one such animal who refuses to leave the playground unless it is on her terms.  The staff always tries to entice the cat with treats, if she refuse to respond to voice commands.

In Aurora’s case, getting her to move requires more creative motivation methods; else Amol would never get a chance on the playground!

Now this may look like fun and games, but having to rotate stubborn animals off the playground can be rather, exhausting.  You try funny sounding cat toys...

You even break out the red plushy toy…

…all in the hopes that the lioness will get tired of watching the staff “lose their minds.”

When Aurora is finally finished watching the floor show, she inches towards her quarters, with the help of a tried and true motivator...

So after an hour and a half of "motivating" Aurora into her quarters, the staff can finally relax and let Amol out for some fun and sun.  Then it’s on to the next playground to deal with the next stubborn wild cat!  Anyone have a kazoo?  The floor show starts in an hour!

Calling all photographers!  We are hosting a "Big Cat Photo Shoot" and you are invited!

Remember, this event is by appointment only, so e-mail Lynne right away since space is limited to 15 photographers!

Tyjar's New Toy!

We just had to start the week off with Tyjar on the playground!  Watch the crazy antics of this very inquisitive tiger...

Tyjars "Play Cam" from Barry Stevenson on Vimeo.
Tyjar, our newest big cat at In-Sync Exotic Wildlife Rescue Center, decides that it's more fun to play with the tiny hi definition "TigerCam" than it is to pose for it.
We hope this video started your workweek off with a smile or two--now that you know what it "feels" like to be hugged by Tyjar!  For a recap of the "Tiger Cam" videos, here are a few shortcut links:  Snack Cam, Tigers of Texas Teaser, and A New Toy on the Playground.

Did you enjoy this video of our newest resident to In-Sync Exotics?  If so, please share with your family, friends, and co-workers--after all, don't they deserve to start the workweek off right too?  You can share this blog posting by using our share buttons below!  And don't forget to let us know your reaction to the video by selecting one of the reaction buttons below.  Thank you!
